Mr. Hoffert is President of Wausau MedMal Management Services, LLC, in Wausau, Wisconsin. During his prior career, he served as Chairman of the Wisconsin Insurance Alliance Board of Directors, Chairman of the Alliance of American Insurer’s Legal Committee, a Board member of the Wisconsin Insurance Security Fund, Chair of the Fund’s Legal Committee, been a member of the National Conference on Insurance Guaranty Fund’s Board of Directors and also served on that Board’s Legal and Administrative Committees. He was an insurance industry representative on the Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance’s Property and Casualty Advisory Council.
Mr. Hoffert joined the Wausau Insurance Companies in 1978 as an attorney in the Company’s Corporate Legal Department. He held positions of increasing responsibility including senior attorney, assistant counsel and counsel. In 1983 he was appointed by the Companies’ Board of Directors Assistant Vice President – Government Affairs; and in 1985, he was elected Vice President for the same function. In 1995 Mr. Hoffert was elected the Companies’ Vice President, Associate General Counsel and Assistant Secretary. In February 1999, following Liberty Mutual’s acquisition of the Wausau Insurance Companies, Mr. Hoffert was elected Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for the Wausau Companies, and also Vice President and Assistant General Counsel of the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company.
Mr. Hoffert earned a bachelor’s degree from McPherson College, McPherson, Kansas, in 1969; and a law degree from Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa, in 1974. After graduation from law school and prior to joining the Wausau Companies, Mr. Hoffert was employed for four years as an attorney by the State of Iowa in the state’s Department of Insurance.
